Manchester City

Manchester City’s easy win at Newcastle on Sunday evening broke two Premier League records.

Pep Guardiola’s team cruised to a 4-0 win against the Magpies, setting a new English football record for the most top-flight wins in a calendar year.

The victory was City’s 34th of 2021, which eclipses the 33 Liverpool managed under Bob Paisley back in 1982.

The win at St James’ Park also saw City reach another significant milestone; their 18th away win in the league this year, more than any other top-flight side has managed in the history of English football.

They broke the record of 17 wins set by Tottenham during the 1960-61 season under coach Bill Nicholson.

City could extend these records if Premier League action is allowed to continue on Boxing and New Year’s Day.

They face Leicester, at home, before an away clash at Brentford.
