Chelsea lost further ground in the race for the English Premier League title after they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Everton.

Thomas Tuchel’s side dominated the match from start to finish and felt they were a bit unlucky as the visitors took a point from their only serious goal attempt.

Mason Mount gave the Blues the lead deep into the second half, but their lead lasted only four minutes as the Toffees equalised from a free-kick.

Speaking after the match, Tuchel was however quick to point out that the situation is not out of hand.

“Today we were not in the lead at half-time, obviously, but we could have been in the lead at half-time, easy,” he said.

“We have to be careful now, also myself, because it is easy to point the finger and say it happens again, it happens again, but we have a huge chance to sit here after the same game and talk about a 3-0 and how impressive things are when we miss so many players.

“It’s a huge possibility because it’s one free-kick and we got punished again. If we look back it seems that it happens too often.

“We need to consider that sometimes when looking back we also do a lot of mistakes when analysing and finding patterns which are maybe not there. But you can be sure we will not look away, the dressing room is so very disappointed, I’m very disappointed, of course,”

The Blues have dropped points in three of their last five matches, which has seen them slip down the table to third.

They trail league leaders Manchester City by four points, with Liverpool, in second three points ahead of them.

Their next assignment is away at Wolves on Sunday evening.
