Chelsea duo of N’Golo Kante and Trevor Chalobah are available for selection ahead of Thursday’s Premier League match against Everton, coach Thomas Tuchel has confirmed.
Kante picked an injury during a Champions League match against Juventus, while Chalobah suffered a similar fate during the Blues’ win over Watford.
Chelsea have suffered in their absence, but Tuchel had good news during his pre-match conference on Wednesday afternoon.
“NG will be back on the bench tomorrow,” confirmed Tuchel.
“He did the last two training sessions. Trevoh also did the last two sessions and will also be back in the squad,”
Mateo Kovacic, who has missed the last close to eight weeks with an injury and a recent positive Covid-19 test, is also nearing a return, and the German tactician offered some news.
“We need to see. Mateo has been out for seven or eight weeks with injury and then Covid.
“It’s one thing to have NG back on the bench, and one thing to get Mateo back at the end of the week, but does that mean this is really NG, really Mateo? I doubt that. That would mean it would not be necessary to be constantly in training.
“It will take a while, but it will be a good day for us when both of them are available,”
Chelsea go into the match on the back of a thrilling 3-2 win over Leeds United on Saturday, which ensured they kept pace with Manchester City and Liverpool.
