Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United legend Gary Neville is becoming a lot more expressive by the day, isn’t he?

The latest comments are a message to Ralf Rangnick on how to get the best out of Cristiano Ronaldo.

While Ronaldo has hit the ground running under Rangnick with a goal against Norwich City last weekend and the brace against Arsenal while the German waited on his work permit, there’s still a sense Rangnick has a job to maximise the Portuguese star.

“I’ve been saying for a couple of months, when [Edinson] Cavani was fit, that I felt as though they had to have a strike partnership up there with Ronaldo,” he told Sky Sports, per The Express.

“They were leaving him up front on his own, leaving him exposed when Man Utd were out of possession and in possession.

“He’s not the easiest player to hit, I just think when you have someone up there with him, it takes the pressure off him on both sides of the game.

“He looked so much more comfortable and contributed out of possession, as well as [what] he always does in the box where he’s the best finisher in the world,” the former Red Devils skipper concluded.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is expected to feature as United host Brentford at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
