Edouard Mendy

Edouard Mendy’s superb season has been rewarded with a prestigious award as Senegal’s Player of the Year.

As confirmed this past weekend, Mendy was awarded the accolade after he was voted for by Senegal’s national sports journalists.

With no less than 321 votes, Mendy beat Liverpool’s Sadio Mane (99 votes) and Watford’s Ismailia Sarr (61 votes).

Mendy’s remarkable success over the past year included keeping a joint-record nine clean sheets in last season’s competition.

The 29-year-old also became the first-ever goalkeeper to keep nine clean sheets in a debut Champions League season.

Meanwhile, Mendy is expected to lead Senegal to African Cup of Nations glory in January and February in Cameroon.
