Dean Henderson

Ajax CEO Edwin van der Saar has denied rumors that they are set to raid his former side for goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

Reports emerged last week that the Dutch giants were interested in Henderson who wants out of Old Trafford due to lack of game time as he hopes to make it to the Gareth Southgate England squad for the 2022 World Cup.

“I heard that you can now hire desks for €2,000 a month, so that very nice messages about players are thrown into the world. I’m talking about social media, so to speak. You are continuously linked to players, whether they come from South America or Eastern Europe. But no, this makes no sense,” the former Man United keeper said on ‘Rondo’ program on Ziggo Sport.

Ajax are set to lose André Onana on a free transfer in the summer to Inter Milan and Henderson was supposedly seen as a long-term replacement for the Cameroon international.

Van der Sar who spent six years for United at the end of his illustrious career, winning four Premier League titles and the Champions League has been one of the most commanding figures at Ajax and there were reports that he would be welcomed back to the club in a management capacity as United look for a permanent coach.
