Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed the club will strengthen during the January transfer window.

The Catalans dropped to the Europa League following their elimination from the Champions League after a 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich. Barca is lacking depth in the squad and Laporta has vowed to make additions in January.

“I also feel very disappointed by the elimination of the Champions [League],” Laporta said in a video posted on his personal Twitter account.

“We all agree that we have to strengthen the first team. The problem is that we have inherited very high contracts of the first team, which don’t give us any salary margin.”

“Even so, we are looking for formulas to improve the first team during the winter transfer window.”

“We are working very hard to achieve it. And we will.”

The Spanish giants will return to action on Saturday when they travel to Estadio El Sadar to take on Osasuna.
