Defender Lucas Digne has described rumors about his spat with manager Rafael Benitez as ‘fake news’.
The Athletic had reported that the player was dropped for their clash against Arsenal due to a spat with his manager a game they were to go on and win.
“Digne had made his frustrations clear in conversations behind the scenes with Benítez, challenging his new manager with growing regularity,” the Athletic reported.
The player has however come out guns blazing stating that he was simply dropped for tactical reasons.
“Don’t believe everything you read. Only one thing matters The club. What a fight, what a win against Arsenal, guys! I was sad not to play. I was looking forward to be playing for Everton as always. The manager chose not to select me. That’s football,” he said in an Instagram story.

The left-back had previously played every single minute of Everton’s Premier League campaign except for the November 1st clash against Wolves, where he was also not included in the squad.
The former Barcelona man will be hoping to be back in the squad when they take on Crystal Palace on Saturday.
