West Ham manager David Moyes has admitted that he needs to fill two places in the January transfer window.

According to the Scotsman, they will need to sign a defender and a striker in the window if they are to compete with the rest of the teams in the division; this coming after losing defender Zouma to an injury.

“Kurt has been very good for us. Everybody has been impressed. He has the experience from¬†Chelsea¬†and he’s a big miss. But other players helped us get into Europe last year. They are ready to play. Hopefully, they will be good.

“We have been looking to add to the forward players. We tried in the summer for a forward but there was nothing. Now we have to consider looking for a defender if possible.

“I’ll see what we think the recovery time of players coming back is as well, that could have an influence on whether we need to take somebody immediately or if we think we can wait a bit later in January,” Moyes said.

The Hammers were interested in bringing Jesse Lingard in the summer to boost their forward and while they are still interested in the player, Newcastle United has emerged as another possible destination for the Englishman.

Despite their setbacks with injuries, West Ham are currently placed fourth with 27 points and will be up against Burnley in their next game.
