Charlie Savage

For any player, making the grades at a club is all that dreams are made of and midfielder Charlie Savage was no exception when he made his senior debut for Manchester United in their draw against Young Boys on Wednesday night.

Charlie, son to former United man Robbie Savage, went one better than his famous father who never made a first-team appearance during his time as an Old Trafford junior.

Taking to Twitter after the game, the young Savage wrote: “Delighted to have made my first-team debut for @manchesterunited in the champions league.

“ I would like to thank all the academy staff for their support over the last 14 years and the manager for putting his trust in me tonight.”

While the layer might find less game time with the senior team this season owing to the type of players at the club’s disposal, he will be glad to have been noticed by the new United coach who is known for giving a chance to young players in his previous stations.
