Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the club is missing several players and staff following positive coronavirus cases.
The news will be a worry for the Premier League after Tottenham was forced to cancel their tie against Rennes due to the same cases. According to Antonio Conte, his players and staff at are scared following an outbreak at the north London club.
Ahead of their tie with Napoli on Thursday, Ridgers said: “We have seven missing. There are some players and staff who are not here. We have had some positive cases and some people who are not well.
“It’s been the last few days really. You’re starting to see a few more cases. It’s about the health of our players and we have to respect the travel, coming into Italy. We still have a strong squad here. It’s just not a fully-fit squad.”
Despite the setback, the team is set to welcome back Youri Tielemans and Ryan Bertrand for the tie in which will be a boost for the Foxes ahead of the busy December schedule.
“Youri (Tielemans) has trained very well and he will be available. Ryan (Bertrand) has been out for a week or so and he will be available for the game,” Rodgers added.
A point will be enough to see Leicester through to the knockout rounds of the competition.
