Divock Origi

Man United legend Rio Ferdinand has likened Liverpool striker Divock Origi to two club heroes after the striker helped Liverpool beat AC Milan in their final Champions League group game.

The Reds beat AC Milan 2-1 to finish their group with a perfect record with Origi once again being among the goalscorers this coming just days after coming up with the winner in their game against Wolves on Saturday.

Speaking about the Belgian while on set with BT Sports, Ferdinand said: “Divock Origi is not disheartened when he misses one, he keeps going again and again.

“I’ve played with Chicharito [Hernandez] and Solskjaer and the players love them, you need people to come off the bench and have an impact and Origi does that.

“Within the club, I know the players appreciate Origi. He’s decisive when he comes on, he gets the temperature of the game straight away. With him, there seems to be a big shout for an Anfield statue outside!”

Attention for Liverpool now shifts to the Premier League where they are set to welcome their former captain Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa at Anfield on Saturday.
