Yaya Toure

Santi Carzola might not be returning to Arsenal in a coaching capacity after Mikel Arteta heaped praise on former Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

There have been reports that Arteta was looking for a former player to join his coaching setup and he seeks to improve his midfield ideas with Toure having been one of the names mentioned in the past week.

Arteta has now addressed the links and spoke very openly about the idea of Toure linking up with him.

“He (Toure) has my number as we spent some years together, he is a player I appreciate a lot so he can call me and ask the question. He certainly has the experience and expertise and has won a lot in the game to add value to the game for sure,” Arteta said in his presser ahead of the game against Everton.

The sentiments however could signal bad news for former Arsenal midfielder Cazorla’s chances of returning to the club as a coach.

Cazorla previously said that he would ‘value’ the opportunity to return to Arsenal in a coaching capacity in the future but it remains unclear if Arteta is open to that idea.
