Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes midfielder Thomas Partey will come good when they face Everton on Monday night.

Partey has come under attack by a section of the club fans and according to Arteta, he knew the player would struggle in his first days in the Premier League and injuries haven’t done him any favours in adapting to the English league.

“We need him at his best. He can produce more and he knows that. We have to demand more from him. The fact that he’s had so many injuries has not been really helpful for him because he hasn’t found the platform physically to be at his best. Then he has had some games where he has been more consistent than in others,” Arteta said.

There have been suggestions that the player has been struggling because of the huge money Arsenal paid to lure him from Atletico Madrid but Arteta is of a different opinion.

“I don’t think it’s related to the money. The supporters have seen the quality and what he can provide on the pitch. We want to see that more often. He is an important player in the team and obviously, we’ve missed him for long, long periods since he joined and that’s not ideal.

“But our aim is just to get the best out of him and how we’re going to do that,” he added.

Partey should be joined by his favored midfield partner Granit Xhaka this week but it’s not clear whether the Swiss will start the game on Monday.
