Sebastien Haller

Sebastien Haller scored a brace as high-flying Ajax maintained their 100 percent record in this season’s Champions League with a 2-1 win away to Besiktas on Wednesday night.

The hosts took a 22nd-minute lead through Rachid Ghezzal, but a second-half double from Ajax’s main man up front turned it around.

The Ivory Coast international has now scored in each of the group match fixtures and is on course to writing his name in the competition’s history books.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player to score in every group match of the competition, a feat he achieved when he scored nine in six matches for Real Madrid in 2017.

The Portuguese, alongside Robert Lewandowski, are the two other players to have scored in each of this season’s Champions League matches.

In another match, Inter Milan scored two quick goals in the second half to see off a stubborn Shakhtar Donetsk.

After a scoreless first half, Edin Dzeko scored a double in a space of six minutes to send Inter top of their group.

They could however drop to second if Real Madrid wins away to Sheriff Traspol.
