Zinedine Zidane

Alessandro Del Piero believes Zinedine Zidane will be a ‘good fit’ to take over at Manchester United.

United is in the hunt for a head coach following the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who was sacked on Sunday morning. According to reports, the Red Devils have approached the Frenchman regarding the vacant position.

Zidane is without a club since leaving Real Madrid in the summer with further reports claiming he is happy to wait for an offer to manage Paris Saint-Germain.

“I think he is taking some time off,” Del Piero told Sky Sports News.

“Last time I spoke with him, he explained how tough it is to become a coach. I’m approaching the coaching license now as well so I see you have to be there in every aspect, to be on top of everything.”

“He told me how tough and demanding it is, in terms of timing, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Good fit

“So he is probably taking some time off. But I don’t know. I see Zidane as a good fit for Manchester United. But I don’t know what they are looking for.”

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be United’s first choice should he leave the Ligue 1 giants.
