Mario Mandzukic

Former Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic has been named as an assistant coach to the Croatia national team.

Mandzukic will be the No2 to Zlatko Dalic to his country of birth in what will be his first job as a coach since retiring from football earlier this year after making ten appearances for AC Milan in his six months stint.

The 35-year-old was capped 89 times by the national team, scoring 33 goals in the process and helping Croatia to the Final of the 2018 World Cup, when they finished runners-up behind France in Russia.

The player who started his club career at Marsonia in his native country, spent five years at Juventus between 2015 and 2020, before moving to Qatar and Al-Duhail. His European sojourn saw him represent Bayern Munich, VfL Wolfsburg, Dinamo Zagreb, NK Zagreb and Atletico Madrid.

He featured for all the junior sides of the Croatia national teams and will hope that he helps his country to go a step further in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
