Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup

Cameroon, Tunisia, and the Super Eagles of Nigeria completed the roster for the playoff round of the qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. 

The Super Eagles settled for a 1-1 draw with Cape Verde on Tuesday in Lagos to reach the final round of African Qualifiers for the upcoming World Cup. Victor Osimhen gave Nigeria the lead early but his goal was canceled out by Stopira as Cape Verde finished second in Group C with 11 points, 2 behind leaders Nigeria.

Cameroon and Tunisia also joined the party following their respective wins against Ivory Coast and Zambia. The Indomitable Lions edged out Côte d’Ivoire by a solitary goal in Yaounde to finish top of Group D while Tunisia beat Zambia 3-1 in Rades to top Group B.

Qualified teams for playoffs

Pot 1:

  • Senegal
  • Morocco
  • Algeria
  • Nigeria
  • Tunisia

Pot 2:

  • Egypt
  • Ghana
  • Mali
  • Cameroon
  • DR Congo

The draw is set to be conducted on December 18.

Mali and Senegal are the only two countries without continental success.

Teams will shift focus to the AFCON before the playoff in March.
