Eddie Howe staff

Newcastle United have confirmed a new backroom staff for manager Eddie Howe ahead of his first game with the club this weekend.

statement from the club on Tuesday evening confirmed that Howe has been joined in training sessions at the Magpies’ Benton base by assistant head coach Jason Tindall, who previously enjoyed the same position at Bournemouth before briefly taking on the role of manager.

Howe has also been reunited with Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone, who both left the South Coast in the summer. Graeme Jones will stay on as assistant head coach, while Ben Dawson and Simon Stone will also keep their positions as a first-team development coach and goalkeeper coach respectively.

The Magpies have also bolstered the club’s sports science department with the addition of Dan Hodges from Bournemouth.

The changes mean that Agnew and Clemence have both left their roles after supporting Jones during his three-match interim period. The pair arrived as assistants to Steve Bruce in July 2019.

Howe will take charge of his first match in the St James’ Park home dugout on Saturday for the visit of Brentford with their opponents losing their last four Premier League fixtures.
