Midfielder Philippe Coutinho will stay at Barcelona despite rumors linking him with a move away from the club in January.

The Brazilian has had a tough outing at Camp Nou since arriving from Liverpool in 2018 in a deal worth more than €130million.

He had been loaned out to Bayern Munich where he showed his potential by winning the Champions League but his return back to Barca had been hampered by injuries. In that season, he spent a lot of time on the sidelines, but this term he has featured more regularly so far.

According to Sport, Xavi feels Coutinho will be an important player for him and wants him to stay despite his frost relationship with previous manager Ronald Koeman.

Xavi wants to get a good look at everyone before making any decisions ahead of the January transfer window and Coutinho remains keen to prove himself at Camp Nou and is not ready to move on, at least not mid-season.
