Arsenal captain Piere Emerick Aubemayang might miss their weekend game against Liverpool after missing his country’s Tuesday afternoon loss to Egypt.
The 32-year-old played in his nation’s crucial 1-0 World Cup qualifier win over Libya over the weekend as he kept his nation’s hopes of making it to the 2022 World Cup alive but those dreams were quashed by Egypt.
The absence of Aubameyang places the striker’s presence for Arsenal’s clash with Liverpool in doubt. It is yet not known what the striker is suffering from but there are reports that his withdrawal was a result of precaution somethng that should worry the Arenal fans.
Aubameyang would be a huge miss for Mikel Arteta given the 32-year-old has already scored seven goals in 11 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
However, since his arrival at the Emirates in 2018, he’s failed to score in his six appearances against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Liverpool are facing injury challenges of their own as Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson all picked up injuries while away on international duty. Henderson returned home before England’s meeting with San Marino on Monday night, while the Liverpool left-back limped off during Scotland’s 2-0 victory over Denmark.
They join an already extensive injury list, consisting of Roberto Firmino, Harvey Elliott, Naby Keita, James Milner and Joe Gomez.
