Aaron Ramsdale

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is set to be handed his England debut in their Monday night tie against San Marino.

Also in contention for a start is midfielder Emile Smith Rowe who was introduced in the last ten minutes in England’s win over Albani over the weekend.

According to Sky Sports, England are likely to line up in a 3-4-3 formation, with one of the youngest squads that Gareth Southgate has ever used in his five years in charge.

Ramsdale has been a regular in the senior England set-up since being part of the extended squad of 33 that Southgate named for the pre-Euros training camp in June but is yet to be handed his chance with the team.

Withdrawals from the likes of Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson, Mason Mount, Raheem Sterling, and Jack Grealish on Sunday mean that Smith-Rowe is likely to get to impress from the start with Southgate planning to rotate his keepers too.

The Gareth Southgate side are up against Marino who have lost all nine World Cup Qualifiers by an aggregate score of 36-1 – needing just a point to guarantee top spot in Group I and a place at next year’s World Cup.
