Zinedine Zidane

Manchester United have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.

The Red Devils are said to be in the hunt for a new manager, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future at the club becoming less clear by the day.

The Norwegian has seen his side record poor results in recent weeks, with last weekend’s 2-0 loss at the hands of rivals Man City the latest of many disappointing performances.

It is believed Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo, who have both worked under the Frenchman are leading efforts to lure the multiple Champions League winner to Old Trafford.

Zidane won three back-to-back European crowns at the helm of the Los Blancos and is seen as the perfect candidate to replace Solskjaer in case he is relieved of his duties.

He has been out of work since finishing his second stint at Real Madrid at the end of 2020/21.

Brendan Rodgers and Mauricio Pochettino have also been mentioned.

United are currently sixth on the standings on 17 points from the opening 11 matches.

They travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford once the international weekends this week.
