Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

A Liverpool former player has suggested he is on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side instead of the players.

The Red Devils have been under fire after a string of shock defeats that include a unforgivable 5-0 defeat from bitter English foes Liverpool this month.

The manager Solskajer has thus been facing a storm of bullets on his own, with the likes of Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Paul Pogba also catching some of the fire.

According to the former Reds and Norway left-back, Riise, there is only so much a manager can do, the rest is often up to the players on the green grass..

“I do feel for him, as a person, of course, but he’s stepped into one of the biggest jobs in the world,” Riise told talkSPORT.

“And when things are not going well, like they are now, it’s so easy to learn and manage it but, at the same time, I’ve watched the last three or four games of Man Utd and the attitude from the players – you can’t always blame the manager for everything.

“Look at the aggression, the tightness, the willingness to fight for the club – it’s not there from the players, and that annoys me because like, myself, I was not the most technical player, but at least I gave 110%, no matter how I was playing.

“Look at the Man Utd players now, they don’t seem to care,” Riise concluded.

Meanwhile, a lot will be expected as the Red Devils travel to Vicarage Road Stadium to battle Claudio Ranieri’s Watford this weekend.

The Hornets are winless in three games, including the 5-0 defeat from Liverpool.
