Kevin-Prince Boateng

Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed he turned down a chance to join Manchester United from AC Milan in 2013.

The Hertha midfielder joined Bundesliga side Schalke instead, and he has opened up on why the move happened.

“I had the opportunity to move to Manchester United. I chose Germany – you saw what happened to me at Schalke,” he told Hertha’s website.

“At some point I became intelligent. It started with Milan. I played with world stars and learned something from everyone.”

Boateng moved to Spurs as a 20-year-old, even though the move did not go as planned, one thing he regrets.

“I was 20 years old, a regular – it was all good. I was at home, my family was here,” he said.

“I should have stayed here for another two or three years, then maybe I would have become a German national player.”

Boateng played for Germany youth teams but ended up featuring for Ghana’s senior team, even playing at the World Cup against his brother Jerome Boateng.

He has traveled widely, featuring for a number of top European clubs including AC Milan Las Palmas, Fiorentina, and Barcelona
