Dani Alves

So, Dani Alves is back at Barcelona after six years. 

The Brazilian, who is the most decorated footballer of all time, reunites with the new manager, Xavi,  having left Barcelona for Juventus in 2016.

Ahead of his return, here are some of the top stats from his glittering career;

    • 391 – Dani Alves’ official appearances in his first at the club, which go up to 414 if they include unofficial matches. He scored 23 times
    • 8 – His number of seasons at FC Barcelona, in which he was an automatic choice under Josep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova, Tata Martino and Luis Enrique
    • 14 – ACounting his six years at Sevilla, the total number of Liga seasons that he has played
    • 1 – Dani Alves was the very first player to be signed in the Guardiola era, and 13 years later is now to be the first under Xavi. He was presented on 2 July 2008, a day before Gerard Piqué
    • 6 – Xavi’s legendary shirt number, but which Dani Alves inherited following the midfielder’s departure
    • 20 – Alves’ first shirt number at Barça. In 2009/10 he switched to number 2, and then 22 in honour of Éric Abidal
    • 46 – Alves has won more trophies than any other player at senior level. An immense 46 in total
  • 23 – He won half of those trophies at Barça. No fewer than 6 Ligas, 4 Copas del Rey, 3 Champions Leagues, 3 Club World Cups, 3 Spanish Super Cups and 4 European Super Cups
  • 5 – The number of players who remain from his previous spell at the club, namely Marc ter Stegen, Gerard Piqué, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto and Sergio Busquets
  • 2 – Alves is the foreigner with the second most appearances for Barça (391), topped only by Leo Messi (778) and with Javier Mascherano in third (334)
