The Rice news is the latest blow for England manager Gareth Southgate who already saw Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford withdraw from the squad as he continued with his recovery with his club.
It is unclear whether Mason Mount and Luke Shaw will be available for Southgate too as they are yet to join the rest of their teammate. Mount had his wisdom teeth removed while Shaw is suffering from a concussion.
