Dani Alves

Laliga giants FC Barcelona have denied rumors linking them with Brazilian defender Dani Alves.

There have been reports that the club was keen on re-signing the 38-year-old who is now a free agent after he claimed that he was ready to help his team following their turbulent start to the season.

While new manager Xavi is looking to add new faces to the team in the coming January window, Marca reports that Alves isn’t one of them; Alves is currently a free agent after leaving Sao Paulo in September.

There are claims that the Brazilian expressed his availability to the powers-that-be at Barcelona when he was at Camp Nou watching their defeat of Dynamo Kyiv last week, but he was told that the club’s ambition is to bring in younger footballers full of potential.

Barcelona, however, are open to offering Alves a non-playing role with the club in the future as they consider him a valuable asset to the club. Considered one of the greatest fullbacks of his generation, Alves played for Sevilla, Juventus, and Paris Saint-Germain too in Europe.
