Raphael Varane

Manchester United have received a blow ahead of the Manchester Derby this weekend with news that defender Raphael Varane has been ruled out for one month.

Varane who missed three matches before returning and starring in the victory against Spurs was withdrawn in United’s draw against Atalanta on Tuesday night in the 37th minute with his place taken by Mason Greenwood.

“The club confirms that Raphael sustained a hamstring injury, which is expected to keep him out of action for around a month,” United said in a statement.

United will be up against City rivals Manchester City on Saturday at Old Trafford, prior to the two-week international break. After the break, United return to league action against Watford before traveling to Villarreal in the Champions League.

November closes out with another away game, against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the league; these being the games Varane is expected to miss.
