Chelsea made history on Tuesday in the Champions League during their 1-0 victory over Malmo FF.
Hakim Ziyech scored the only goal against plucky Malmo with his strike marking the Blues’ 500th goal in European competitions. Malmo goalkeeper Johan Dahlin was a busy man in the first half as he made seven saves to force the match to end in a goalless draw after 45 minutes.
In the second half, Ziyech gave the Blues the lead from close-range and his strike will go down in the annuals of great goals in Europe as his side closed 500th goal in European competitions.
Ziyech also became the joint-highest scoring Moroccan player in the Champions League history, alongside former Arsenal forward Marouane Chamakh.
Mendy the wall
Edouard Mendy yet again kept another clean sheet and without a doubt, he is one of the best goalkeepers in Europe. The Senegalese wasn’t overly tested but it wasn’t surprising as he kept his fifth clean sheet having played 479 minutes without conceding a goal in all competitions.
