Ian Wright has said Manchester United got bashed by Liverpool because they lacked a high press.

Following the Red Devils’ superb response with a 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, leading pundit Ian Wright has pointed out what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side improved on.

“They didn’t press high, what was evident was the work rate, the intensity, something for me that wasn’t evident at all last week. I thought today, Tottenham was perfect for them, saying that Man United gave them no time, no time at all.

“Even when you looked at it they were much closer to everybody. At no stage did we watch Tottenham today because of the way Man United work and how hard they were working did they make any Tottenham player like they had time on the ball at any stage.

“Man United are very much more organised in the way they’re not letting them pass the ball [into the middle] then they go for the long one which was aimless, we have seen them do it a couple of times.

“The balls [into the box] were just nothing. It was very comfortable for them, they needed to put in a performance like that and they worked a lot harder today,” Wright concluded.

Up next for the Red Devils is UEFA Champions League action Atalanta on Tuesday.
