Donny van de Beek

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek might be saved from his nightmare at Old Trafford after it emerged that Barcelona wants to take him in January.

De Beek has found game time hard to come by and with the World Cup coming up next year, he wants to be in a team that can guarantee him more playing time lest he misses the Netherlands squad.

According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona are seeking a loan move for the player in January as they seek to boost their midfield options owing to injuries they have been suffering of late.

Barca wants to improve their squad owing to their slow start to the season but considering their financial problems, securing a loan player of van de Beek’s quality may be their best chance to improve what they have currently.

The report adds that the deal would include an option or obligation to buy in the future, and Barca are hopeful that Van de Beek’s arrival would add a much-needed goalscoring touch from midfield.

The ex-Ajax man has only played six minutes of Premier League football this season and is not due to become a free agent until 2025.
