Carlo Ancelotti will not force players to stay if they choose to leave.
The Real Madrid boss was asked directly whether he would allow an out-of-favor player, such as Eden Hazard, to go before Real’s match against Elche.
“I have never in my coaching career forced a player who wants to leave to stay,” Ancelotti said.
“In my personal opinion, there is no question about it. If a player wants to leave, he is going to leave. There is not much doubt about this.”
After comments made by Ancelotti ahead of Madrid’s goalless draw with Rayo Vallecano last week, questions over Hazard’s future in the club have resurfaced.
When asked about why Hazard didn’t start in Sunday’s Clasico, the former Chelsea and AC Milan head coach said: “He is ready to play, but the problem is that right now he has a coach who might prefer another player.”
Ancelotti on why he has been overlooking Eden Hazard
Hazard has had injury concerns recently, although he was an unused sub in the win against Barcelona and came on against Rayo Vallecano in the 69th minute.
