Vinicius

He didn’t score either of Real Madrid’s goals in El Clasico, but Vinicius was a key part of his side’s victory at the Camp Nou. After terrorising Oscar Mingueza in the first half, he kept causing Barcelona headaches until his substitution in the 87th minute.

When he finally went off, he did so after receiving some treatment from the club doctors and the Brazilian limped off at the far side of the pitch. He then proceeded to walk around the perimeter of the pitch, behind the goalposts of the north stand, where some of Barcelona’s most passionate fans are based.

As he walked by the Blaugrana support, Vinicius had to endure boos, insults and middle fingers, as well as some objects being thrown in his direction. As seen in images captured by Movistar, some fans threw balls of paper or cups.

Vinicius took this all in his stride, even moving some of the objects back off the grass and sticking his tongue out with a smile. He even pointed to the scoreboard, which read 1-0 to Real Madrid at that moment.

Referee Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez was informed of the abuse too and it remains to be seen if these incidents will feature in LaLiga’s weekly report on fan behaviour inside Spanish stadiums.

Vinicius vs Pique and Jordi Alba
During the match, Vinicius also had confrontations on the pitch. In the first half in particular, he argued with Gerard Pique and had a clash with Jordi Alba. The Barcelona defenders grew increasingly frustrated as Vinicius won his duels against Mingueza.

At half time, Ronald Koeman kept Mingueza from going back onto the pitch, introducing Philippe Coutinho and asking Sergino Dest to return to his natural right-back spot to try to deal with Real Madrid’s Brazilian winger.

Although Vinicius was quieter in the second half, he still had the last laugh.
