Real Madrid returned from Barcelona with three points from the first Clasico of the season, yet it wasn’t without sacrifice as Fede Valverde suffered a sprain in the lateral ligament of his left knee.
Thibaut Courtois also had a knee issue, but that was nothing serious, however the Uruguayan midfielder was forced to have further tests on Monday morning in Madrid.
The club ruled out a serious injury like an ACL issue, but it was determined that the former Penarol star had sprained the lateral ligament in his left knee.
He will miss most of the scheduled training sessions this week and will be further evaluated in a number of days.
Courtois’ knee issue
In the case of the Belgian goalkeeper, the thoughts remain the same as they did on Sunday evening. The incident was merely a scare.
The former Chelsea stopper seemed to cause an injury when taking a kick and his standing leg gave way.
Initially it was thought there could be serious damage, but after a few moments the player was able to continue playing and was optimistic after the full time whistle.
“It hurts as I felt pain when I kicked, but I was able to continue,” Courtois declared.
“I hope it’s nothing serious.”
