Chelsea legend John Terry appears to have got his dates mixed up in an Instagram ‘on this day’ throwback post – leaving fans confused.
The former defender uploaded multiple photos of his final match for the Blues alongside the caption: ‘On This Day 2018 I played my last game for @chelseafc,’ on Thursday morning.
But fans were quick to point out that their Captain, Leader, Legend, got confused as to when his last appearance for Chelsea actually was.
One wrote: ‘Isn’t this last match of 2017 in April [sic],’ while another asked: ‘ya last game was 21st of May wasn’t it JT? [sic]’
More comments to his post, which included photos of him with the Premier League trophy, read: ‘Don’t think is accurate JT [sic], ‘you mean May 2017?’ With several asking: ‘Wasn’t it May 2017?’
Terry did, in fact, bid farewell to Chelsea on May 21, 2017 after an illustrious 22-year career at the Blues.
The Premier League champion finished the season with a 5-1 victory over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge.
The ex-centre-back was substituted in the 26th minute and given a guard of honour by his team-mates. He thanked the supporters, his team-mates, manager Antonio Conte and owner Roman Abramovich in an emotional on-pitch address after the match.
It seems the 40-year-old has got muddled with the date he retired from football, which was October 7, 2018.
After bringing the curtain down on a stellar Blues career Terry joined Aston Villa for the 2017-18 season and hang up his boots just months after leaving the Midlands club.
