Ex -Manchester City defender Danilo has taken aim at Pep Guardiola for ‘never being relaxed’ and hard to have a ‘good relationship’ with.
The Brazilian defender moved to City from Real Madrid in 2017 for £26.5m and made 23 Premier League appearances as Guardiola’s side cruised to the title and registered 100 points in the process.
However, in the season that followed, he made just 11 league appearances as he was troubled by injuries and eventually left in 2019 to Juventus in part-exchange for fellow full back Joao Cancelo.
Now, in an interview with Italian outlet Repubblica, the 30-year-old does not hold back when questioned about his relationship with the Spanish coach.
‘It’s true it’s not easy to have a good relationship with him (Guardiola),’ he boldly stated.
‘He is never relaxed, he thinks about football all the time. I think at home, in the evening, he puts his wife on the couch as if she were a player on the pitch.’
Guardiola is known for his obsessive approach to football and is one of the most successful managers of the modern-era, having won league titles at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City.
He also won two Champions League crowns during four glorious years at the Nou Camp from 2008-2012, but is yet to reach the pinnacle of European club football since.
His City team have come close, losing in last season’s final to English rivals Chelsea in Porto.
Danilo, meanwhile, is a regular in the Juventus team and has won the Serie A title and Coppa Italia during the past two seasons with the club.
