FC Barcelona are working on renewing coach Ronald Koeman’s contract.

The Dutch tactician has elicited mixed reactions from the club fans since joining them but Mundo Deportivo claims that he is on the verge of inking a new deal.

Koeman was appointed the manager of the team last summer to replace Quique Setien vacated the post and is rated highly at the club having featured for the team as a player.

He helped the team win the Copa Del Rey last season but finished outside the top two in La Liga and underwhelmed in the UEFA Champions League as well. The new season has not started well too for his team after just two wins in three La Liga games so far.

A section of fans have questioned his abilities for the job with a large section not pleased with his tactics as well as his treatment of academy players such as midfielder Riqui Puig.

Koeman’s current contract runs out at the end of the ongoing season and the Catalans want to add him another year on the deal as they hope that it will settle his future and give him an ample environment to work.

The report adds that talks with Koeman and his agent, Rob Jansen, have been ongoing for a while however the extension will be subject to several conditions and performance objectives.
