Chelsea is set to reignite their interest in Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in January 2022.
The Blues were in for the Frenchman but a deal fell through on deadline day but the Premier League club won’t be giving up hope in getting the player.
The Guardian reports that the Thomas Tuchel side will be back for the player in the next four months as the German is keen on boosting their defensive options this season.
It was a busy day for the Blues on transfer deadline day with the club getting the services of midfielder Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid; the blues said to have exhausted their finances in the window following the arrival of Romelu Lukaku earlier.
According to the source, Kounde’s deal was dead in the water due to his club not willing to negotiate a price lower than his release clause, providing frustrations for both Chelsea and the player himself.
Chelsea had made space for Koundé in their squad by selling Kurt Zouma to West Ham for £29.8m and have been trying to sign the France international since last month.
