Jose Mourinho is showing his Roma players what they are in for this season if they show any lapses of concentration, with a young academy player on the receiving end of some stern words from the Portuguese coach in a friendly match.
Ebrima Darboe, a Gambian player who stayed at a refugee camp in Cayuco before moving to Europe, is looking to convince the Italian coach ahead of the new season.
Yet a blind pass from a freekick, which went wide of its intended target, brought rage from Mourinho.
“Hey Darboe! Wake up right now, damn it! Come on!” Mourinho shouted.
Roma thrashed Debrecen 5-2, with goals from Borja Mayoral, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Nicolo Zaniolo and a brace from Edin Dzeko.
Mourinho’s new side have won all four of their friendly matches so far this pre-season, but face two big challenges in the form of Porto, on July 28, and against Real Betis, on August 7.
