Manchester City will miss the services of striker Sergio Aguero in their Champions League tie against Real Madrid next month.

Guardiola had confirmed earlier that the Argentine won’t be part of the game but there had been reports from The Times that the striker was ahead of schedule on his comeback programme.

The striker, however, in a video, said that his knee was still shaking in an indication that he might not still be ready for the game.

Aguero is recovering from knee surgery following an injury sustained in a 5-0 win at Burnley in June after getting involved in a challenge with Ben Mee; the player now hoping that his side can topple Madrid so as to be able to be ready for the quarterfinals of the competition.

City leads Los Blancos 2-1 in their last-16 tie with the first leg having taken place in Spain; the Pep Guardiola side set to host their counterparts at the Etihad Stadium on August 7.

Manager Zinedine Zidane has never lost a 2-legged knockout tie in the Champions League with his team currently on a short break following the end of the La Liga campaign.
