Christian Pulisic once again proved key for Chelsea during Wednesday night’s Premier League clash against Liverpool.
The winger came off the bench and almost inspired an unlikely comeback against the Champions, scoring once and assisting another as Chelsea lost 5-3 at Anfield.
His fitness has however been a major concern for Frank Lampard and Chelsea fans, with the Liverpool match his second off the bench.
“Christian has had his moments of that but mid-season he had a really good patch and then since restart he has been in incredible form,” Lampard said after the Liverpool defeat.
“Only the injury he picked up in the Norwich game has kept him out of the semi-final when he’s flying. Against Liverpool, he came on and played 40 minutes which is great for feeling confident about the injury and the qualities he has been showing.
“He is so young and he has such natural talent and he creates goals and scores goals,” Lampard added.
“He is a big player for us so I’m delighted to see him come through fit. Clearly he will be a big player in these next few games for us and going forward as well,”
Chelsea will go into the last Premier League match on Sunday against Wolves needing a point to qualify for the Champions League, before an FA Cup final match against Arsenal next weekend.
They also have a Champions League second leg clash against Bayern Munich in August.
