Laurent Blanc has been linked with becoming the next manager of Barca.
According to ‘L’Équipe’, the Frenchman is the main favourite to take charge of the Catalan side next season.
Barcelona’s bad performance since the arrival of Quique Setién and the tension between him and the dressing room have caused the ex-Betis manager to have his future up in the air.
After losing La Liga definitively on the penultimate matchday, different names have now started to be linked with the Barca hot seat instead of Quique.
Among them, one of those linked most is Patrick Kluivert, who would arrive as interim boss. Another, longer-established than the Dutchman, is Laurent Blanc.
The ex-PSG and France manager is currently without a team and has already reportedly been offered to Barca by his agent Jorge Mendes.
Despite Barca neither confirming nor denying, it’s true that the Frenchman is getting more and more strongly linked and ‘L’Équipe’ already put the manager, who was a Barca player, in pole position to manage the team next season.
Likewise, the prestigious French source states that his compatriot Éric Abidal has reportedly already proposed Blanc’s name to the Barca board, who would be mulling over the option.
The main inconvenience, according to the information, would be that Blanc could only sign for a year, as Barcelona don’t want to have their hands tied in the long term (having the possibility of Xavi) with elections at the end of next season.
That would be the thing that’s holding up the deal at the moment. If it is resolved and both parties agree on the contractual duration, the former world champion in 1998 would head for the Camp Nou.
