James Rodriguez'

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has remained coy on rumours linking his team with the acquisition of Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez.

There have been claims that Ancelotti is keen in reuniting with Rodriguez after they both worked at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich but the Italian refused to discuss the future of the player who is struggling to find more game time in Spain.

“James Rodríguez? I like him a lot as a player. When I left Madrid, James Rodríguez followed me to Munich. But he followed me as a rumour to Napoli and now he is following me to Everton as a rumour. I have to be honest – I like him a lot. But he is a Real Madrid player and I think he will still be a Real Madrid player,” Ancelotti said in his Wednesday presser.

The Italian further confirmed that he has been given assurance of funds and will be able to get into the market when they can find the right players.

“I have assurances from the board that we are going to improve the squad,” he said.

Apart from Rodriguez, Everton has been linked with a move for the likes of Thiago Silva, Edinson Cavani, Adrien Rabiot and Gabriel Magalhães.
