Messi reaches 700 goals with a Panenka penalty

The Barcelona man converted a penalty kick after a dicey penalty call for a foul by Felipe on Semedo.

Messi’s Panenka penalty put Barca 2-1 up versus Atletico Madrid and it was Messi’s 700th career goal.

The match between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid was not short of controversy. In the second half, when it was 1-1, Nelson Semedo went down in the Atletico Madrid area.

The Portuguese got there before Felipe and there was a very slight contact between the Brazilian and the Barcelona full back.

Referee Hernandez Hernandez did not hesitate in pointing to the spot and Leo Messi made it 2-1.
