It’s a busy summer ahead at PSG. The Parisian side have the honour of undertaking the most expensive signing in history, the 222 million euros that they paid for Neymar. But all of this remains far in the past with regards to this market.
‘Le Parisien’ informed that Tuchel’s men will have to drastically reduce their spending on transfers. PSG will not be able to sign players for more 70 million euros in total.
Leonardo already warned days ago that PSG were going to have to pull strings to strengthen the squad.
“We’ll have to be creative, find good solutions that aren’t too expensive”, he said in ‘Journal du Dimanche’.
In principle, the maximum amount that the club will have to sign will be 70 million euros. However, that amount could increase if the French side are capable of selling some players.
Mauro Icardi’s signing isn’t part of this budget. PSG activated the option to buy the Argentine forward and it counts for the current fiscal year.
PSG have to strengthen various positions ahead of next season. One of the most important is RB, as Thomas Meunier will leave on a free transfer.
They also have to strengthen in nets, where Sergio Rico’s loan is ending and Thomas Tuchel doesn’t count on Areola, and upfront, where Edinson Cavani will leave for free on 30th June when his contract ends.
In this way, the COVID-19 crisis has led to the team that made the most expensive signing in history to only have a budget of 70 million euros to strengthen the squad.
