Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has said he told his players to control their emotions better, after a scene was created during their 2-1 defeat at Brighton last Saturday.

Some of Arteta’s squad members were furious with Neal Maupay after he clashed with goalkeeper, Bernd Leno in the first half.

Leno was later taken off on a stretcher and replaced with Emi Martinez.

Maupay went on to score the winner late in extra time as Arsenal lost two of their matches since the restart.

The striker was surrounded by Arsenal players after the final whistle and Matteo Guendouzi had to be pulled away after placing his hands around Maupay’s throat.

“When we show frustration, we have to show it in the right way.

“I haven’t seen the images (of Guendouzi) or what happened, but we will talk about it if that is the case. Emotionally, we have to control the situations much better,” Arteta said according to The Guardian.
